Description
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be a graduating high school senior of Northside High School in Houston, TX
- Minimum cumulative GPA to apply: 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted)
- Please review this guide for instructions on converting your GPA to a 4.0 scale. GPA should be rounded to two decimal points.
- Applicant must have achieved at least 1 CCMR indicator by the application deadline (March 31) through one of the following ways:
- Completing at least one dual credit course (students currently enrolled are eligible)
- Earning a 3+ on an AP exam
- Earning an industry-based certification
- Completing an academic readiness program called Texas College Bridge
Award Information:
- Multiple awards expected for 2025.
- Varying award amounts depending on college type:
- 4-Year College - Annual award of $4,500 for the academic year. Award is renewable for a total of four years of funding (totaling $18,000 in scholarships). Can claim funding within a 6-year period.
- 2-Year College - Annual award of $2,500 for the academic year. Award is renewable for a total of two years of funding (totaling $5,000 in scholarships). Can claim funding within a 3-year period.
- Certificate program at a 2 year college: $1,500
- Scholarships are renewable as long as student meets eligibility criteria (with the exception of certificate program students)
- Must enroll in 12 hours in both the fall and spring semesters

- One (1) essay
- Transcript (unofficial transcripts are accepted)
- Education information
- Resume (involvement in activities and service)
Renewal Students:
- Current recipients of the Clyde V., Evalyn M. and James DeVillier Scholarship who are planning to renew the scholarship for the upcoming 2025-26 academic year must complete several Renewal Tasks through this application.
- How Do I Renew My Award?
- Please do not create a new application for the general scholarship. A Renewal Application will be created for you by the GHCF Scholarships Team.
- Keep an eye out for an email from GHCF Scholarships on February 24 with more instructions about renewing your award.
