Description

Requirements to Apply:

  • Applicant must be one of the following in relation to River Oaks Country Club: 
    • Current Employee 
    • Spouse of a current employee
    • Child, legal dependent, or grandchild of a current employee
    • Child, legal dependent, or grandchild of the spouse of a current employee

  • Current employee is defined as full-time or part-time, with either of the following hours requirements:
    • A minimum of 750 hours paid in the previous 12 months (based on calendar year, January 2025 – December 2025)
    • OR an average of at least 500 hours paid per year in the previous 24 months (based on calendar years, January 2024 – December 2025)

  • Child, legal dependent, or grandchild of the employee or the spouse of an employee must be: 
    • a graduating high school senior or equivalent, or 
    • previous public or private high school graduate

  • Minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale on high school studies or two most recent college semesters
    • Applicants with an unweighted GPA of 1.99 or below are not eligible.
    • Please review this guide for instructions on converting your GPA to a 4.0 scale. GPA should be rounded to two decimal points.

  • After 6 years of funding, whether all claimed or not, if a student resumes schooling or pursues a new degree they may apply again as a new applicant. Preference given to first-time applicants.

  • This scholarship is for the upcoming 2026-27 academic year.
  • Current recipients of the River Oaks Country Club Scholarship who are planning to renew the scholarship for the upcoming 2026-27 academic year must complete several Renewal Tasks through this application. 

About the Scholarship Award:

  • Award Amounts for Degree Types
    • Multiple awards made annually for the following amounts: 
      • 4 year degree: $5,000
      • 2 year degree / certificates : $3,000
    • Scholarships are renewable as long as the student meets eligibility criteria for five (5) years after initial award. Up to six (6) years of funding maximum per scholarship award.

  • What can the scholarship be used for?
    • The scholarship will be mailed directly to the student's college to be used towards tuition, required academic fees, and/or book expenses. 
    • Scholarship funding cannot be distributed directly to the student. Funding cannot be used for room and board, rent, meal plans, parking passes, or other similar living expenses.

  • Are there any requirements I must meet if I'm selected as a scholarship recipient?
    • Recipients must attend an accredited university, community college, or trade school in the United States.
    • Recipients must enroll in at least 6 credit hours for both the fall and spring semesters (or be enrolled part-time according to your school if it is on a different system).
    • Recipients must submit college enrollment information online through GHCF Scholar the summer before the academic year begins. This information is required in order for the scholarship check to be mailed to the student's college. Instructions will be included in the student's award letter.
    • Recipients must meet certain criteria in order to receive subsequent annual awards (i.e., renewals): maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0, be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per semester, and complete the renewal application for each academic year they planned to be enrolled.
