Description

This scholarship is for employees and dependents of employees of Houston Country Club in Houston, TX.
Requirements to Apply:

Employment Requirements
- Applicant must be an ‘eligible’ employee, the child/step-child of an eligible employee, or the grandchild/step-grandchild of an eligible employee of Houston Country Club, whereas ‘eligible’ employee is defined as:
- Full-Time employee who works on average at least 30 hours or more per week on a consistent basis with a minimum of one (1) year of service and has completed 1,000 hours of service by the application deadline.
- Part-Time employee who works on average at least 20 hours or more per week on a consistent basis with a minimum of one (1) year of service and has completed 500 hours of service by the application deadline.
- If your employment status changes after the deadline, it may affect the final award determination.
- The GHCF Scholarships Team will verify employment information with Houston Country Club.
Age Requirements
- Children and grandchildren of an employee must be 30 years of age or younger by the application deadline in order to be considered eligible.
- Age limitations do not apply to previous recipients.
- Age limitations do not apply to employees applying for the scholarship.
Academic Requirements
- Minimum cumulative GPA to apply: 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted)
- Students with a GPA of 2.49 or below are not eligible.
- Please review this guide for instructions on converting your GPA to a 4.0 scale. GPA should be rounded to two decimal points.
- Applicant must be enrolled or planning to enroll in any accredited college/university or accredited trade school
- Full-time and part-time students seeking a degree or certificate are eligible to apply
- Preference will be given to students who have previously received a scholarship from the Houston Country Club Scholarship Fund
About the Scholarship Award:
- This scholarship is for the upcoming 2026-27 academic year. Multiple awards made annually in the following amounts:
- Full-Time Recipients:
- 4-year colleges: $10,000
- 2-year colleges: $5,000
- Graduate school: $12,000
- Part-Time Recipients:
- 4-year colleges: $5,000
- 2-year colleges: $2,500
- Graduate school: $6,000
- Full-Time Recipients:
- One-time award. Students may reapply annually for the following durations:
- 3 years after original award (4 years total funding for undergraduate degrees); plus up to
- 2 additional years for graduate degrees
- 3 additional years for law degrees
- 4 additional years for medical degrees
- 3 years after original award (4 years total funding for undergraduate degrees); plus up to
- What can the scholarship be used for?
- The scholarship will be mailed directly to the student's college to be used towards tuition, required academic fees, and/or book expenses.
- Scholarship funding cannot be distributed directly to the student. Funding cannot be used for room and board, rent, meal plans, parking passes, or other similar living expenses.
- Are there any requirements I must meet if I'm selected as a scholarship recipient?
- Recipients must attend an accredited university, community college, or trade school in the United States.
- Recipients must enroll in at least 6 credit hours for both the fall and spring semesters (or be enrolled part-time according to your school if it is on a different system).
- Recipients must submit college enrollment information online through GHCF Scholar the summer before the academic year begins. This information is required in order for the scholarship check to be mailed to the student's college. Instructions will be included in the student's award letter.
- Recipients must attend an accredited university, community college, or trade school in the United States.
