Description

The Gulf Coast – American Industrial Hygiene Association Scholarship benefits industrial hygiene students attending the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston or the University of Houston - Clear Lake.
Requirements to Apply:
- Applicant must currently be enrolled at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston or the University of Houston - Clear Lake
- Applicant must currently be pursuing a bachelor, graduate, or doctoral degree in the industrial hygiene program or with an emphasis or concentration in industrial hygiene
- Applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
- Students with a GPA of 2.99 or below are not eligible.

About the Scholarship Award:
- This scholarship is for the upcoming fall 2026 semester.
- Two (2) scholarships awarded annually
- Award Amount: $4,000 for the fall 2026 semester
- Students may reapply once after their initial award (maximum 2 years of funding )
- What can the scholarship be used for?
- The scholarship will be mailed directly to the student's college to be used towards tuition, required academic fees, and/or book expenses.
- Scholarship funding cannot be distributed directly to the student. Funding cannot be used for room and board, rent, meal plans, parking passes, or other similar living expenses.
- Are there any requirements I must meet if I'm selected as a scholarship recipient?
- Recipients must attend the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston or the University of Houston - Clear Lake
- Recipients must be pursuing a bachelor, graduate, or doctoral degree in tje industrial hygiene program or with an emphasis or concentration in industrial hygiene
- Recipients must enroll either full-time or part-time for the fall 2026 semester
- Recipients must submit college enrollment information online through GHCF Scholar the summer before the academic year begins. This information is required in order for the scholarship check to be mailed to the student's college. Instructions will be included in the student's award letter.
- Other information if you are selected as a recipient:
- Recipients will be given the opportunity to give a brief presentation either on their thesis or dissertation topic or an industrial hygiene related topic of interest.
- The presentation typically takes place within a year of receiving the scholarship at one of the regularly scheduled GCS-AIHA meetings.
- Interested recipients can give an online or in-person presentation.
What Is Needed for This Application?

- Complete a series of questions with the most updated and accurate financial information for your family/household.
- Upload a copy of your Estimated Student Aid Index (SAI) that you will receive after submitting your FAFSA application. If you have not completed the FAFSA yet or received your Estimated SAI, you will use the Federal Student Aid Estimator included within the application.
- Two (2) essays
- One (1) online Recommendation Form completed by an academic or professional reference
- Transcript to confirm your GPA (unofficial transcripts are accepted)
